What is MESOTHERAPY?

Mesotherapy is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment whereby pharmaceuticals, vitamins, enzymes, hormones and plant extracts are delivered to the deeper layers of the skin, namely the dermis and subcutaneous layers. The principle behind mesotherapy is allowing substances to penetrate deep into the skin to reach the areas that creams cannot. Rather than using injections, a weak electric pulse helps guide chemicals deep into the skin by opening up tiny channels, called electroporation. 

What is Electroporation?

Electroporation makes use of electric pulses, creating gaps in the stratum corneum layer of the skin so that active ingredients and medication can be introduced into the dermis i.e. second layer of the skin. The pulse creates temporary, reversible channels to increase the permeability of cell membrane allowing products which cannot be absorbed before to be penetrated and introduced into the dermis. It is a non-invasive, needle-free alternative to the traditional mesotherapy therefore it is a safe and pain-free method with no contraindications, no downtime or trauma to the skin.

How long does the treatment take?

Mesotherapy treatment times may vary and depends on the size of the area treated, can range from 20-45 minutes.

How quickly are results visible?

Visible results of skin rejuvenation are generally seen after just 6-8 weeks following the procedure and improve further over time. A course of 4-6 treatments is usually recommended to achieve optimum results; however, skin improvement is noticeable after just one treatment. To improve the appearance of acne scarring and pigmentation further treatments may be necessary. The number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient and depends on each individual’s skin condition or ailment. Treatments are usually customised.

Am I suitable for Mesotherapy treatment?

Mesotherapy is suitable for both men and women of all skin types and treats a range of skin concerns effectively.  The MesoSkin™ system is especially effective for ageing concerns such as wrinkles, lines, active acne and acne scars, pigmentation, cellulite and stretch marks. Because collagen is produced, scars and stretch marks can also improve from treatments. General lack of skin radiance, skin firmness and compactness are also an indication for mesotherapy treatments and visible improvements can be seen. Mesotherapy is not a complicated process. However, you need to go for an initial consultation with your aesthetic practitioner and discuss your concerns. Does the treatment hurt? 

It is a non-invasive, needle-free alternative to the traditional mesotherapy therefore it is a safe and pain-free method with no contraindications, no downtime or trauma to the skin. The treatment has a comfortable relaxing effect, and afterwards, the client experiences feelings similar to those following a good massage. The client feels both fresh and relaxed because the blood circulation is stimulated and oxygen and nutrients have been transported to their cells.
